Bisselll Buzz 2015/06

July 18, 2015

It was extremely hot and dry and wheat harvesting also commenced this past week. But that was not reflected in the number of visitors that still came to spend some time visiting the Fort.

On Friday Connie Cox gave a tour to a special group of visitors – local, out of state and also a few from Norway.  When people write “Is a very cool place” and “What great fun!” in the visitors’ book, we know they thoroughly enjoyed their visit here.

Friday was also the morning when the children came around to have some fun.  Making bird feeders can be rather messy, but they got to be very creative and make some interesting alternatives to the suggested designs. 14 Happy children all had a good time and the birds will enjoy their efforts for a while still. Thank you so much to Curly Willow II for sponsoring the sweets we handed out and also to Darlene for the pine cones.

Just a reminder that we will be showcasing the City of Kirwin this year in our Heritage Hall.  If there are people that have items, photos or even stories to share about the past of Kirwin and its residents, please make contact with us. Any items will carefully be looked after while on loan for the display. Thank you for those contributions already received.

Please note that we will be closed for 4th July and due to the festivities around this day also not be having a Fun Friday this coming week.  We will however resume the activities on July 10th.

Our hours are Tuesday to Friday 9am – 4pm and Saturday 9am – 2pm.  Closed Sundays, Mondays and 4th July.  Regular updates and photos are posted on our Facebook page.

We can be contacted on (785) 543-6212 or on email at ftbissell@live.com

Remember entrance is FREE. See ya at the Fort – hopefully soon!!
